Juno
Earrings began as 1 project and – as often happens – became
another. I was trying to design earrings inspired by the
Arts & Crafts Movement and wanted to use these beautiful
marquise ruby drops I had found. I developed the bezel for
the shape and then tried a variety of different stitches and
shapes off of the stone. I love St. Petersburg Chain and
began playing with variations and finally the design came to
me – I love when that happens.
Juno was
the ancient great goddess of Rome, the queen of the gods and
protector of women. The peacock represents her and these
images can be found in many frescoes from the ancient Roman
period. Wonderful examples can be found at Villa Oplonti
(my favorite archeological site in Naples). Peacocks and
peacock feathers are in many of the rooms there.
The
Earrings and necklace are made using circular peyote and St.
Petersburg Chain. The component for the earring will be
covered in the workshop. However, I will include
instructions for necklace/pendant. |
