Description: |
In this workshop, students will learn how to create a
bracelet inspired by the rich patterns and colors of
traditional Portuguese pottery. The design evokes the
delicate painted motifs seen on hand-glazed tiles and
ceramics, translated into vibrant beadwork . Students
will explore two essential beadweaving techniques: peyote
stitch, used to form the strong, structured base of the
bracelet, and netting, which overlays the beadwork with
graceful, lace-like detail. These two stitches combine to
echo the geometry and fluid decoration of pottery patterns,
giving the bracelet both strength and elegance. Using
high-quality seed beads in a palette reminiscent of
hand-painted ceramics, students will gain hands-on
experience shaping beaded bezels, creating patterns with
color, and joining components into a finished wearable
piece.
